Sandy Denny – A People’s History

A People’s History of Sandy Denny is the story of the legendary British folk singer told in the words of fans, friends and associates.

A People’s History of Sandy Denny is being compiled by Sandy’s daughter, Georgia Rose Lucas. It will be published in August 2026 by Spenwood Books of Manchester, UK, in advance of what would have been Sandy’s eightieth birthday in January 2027.

A People’s History of Sandy Denny will contain over 400 memories of the woman described by many as Britain’s finest ever female singer-songwriter, along with exclusive and previously unpublished images from Georgia’s personal archive.

Georgia Rose Lucas said:

‘As Sandy’s daughter, I know her voice was more than just the music –  it made a deep connection for so many.

‘I am so happy that Richard Houghton and Spenwood Books have, in A People’s History of Sandy Denny, created the opportunity for people to share those connections – gathering special memories and stories from those who knew her, those who worked with her and those touched by the gifts she left us all.

‘It is a joy and an honour to share these memories of Sandy – her voice, her music, her words.’

If you saw Sandy in concert, met her, worked with her professionally or are just an admirer of her work, we’d love to hear from you. Every submission will be acknowledged, and as we approach publication, we’ll let you know if your story is going to be included.

Any length of story is acceptable but around 400 words in length is ideal. If you’re sending us a gig memory, please include the date of the show if you can. If you’re sending photos, please ensure these are at least 300KB and please attach them as separate jpegs.

To share your Sandy memory, please write to sandydennybook@gmail.com
